Milestone Achieved by DLE in ONLY Four Weeks

DLE system is proven to successfully process 11,573 barrels of oilfield brines during a 24-hour run by Volt Lithium who installed this system in just four weeks, from mid-January to early February.

With the scaling-up of operation, DLE is expected to better consolidate its position in Lithium production.

A Tightening Lithium Supply in 2025

After years of significant oversupply, the global lithium market is predicated to be tightened in 2025. However, many market participants are reserved about the outlook for 2025 because of uncertainties caused by trade wars and policy changes. It is suggested for market participants to keep a close eye on market developments and adopt a 'wait-and-see' approach.

Saudi Arabia: Blue Ocean for Lithium Production

A JV between Aramco, the worlds largest oil company, and Maaden, a state-owned mining company is announced to start commercial lithium production in Saudi Arabia by 2027. The JV will focus on lithium extraction from high-concentration deposits and the development of direct lithium extraction (DLE) technology.

Aramco has found regions in the Kingdom where lithium concentrations approach 400 parts per million, which presents a huge possibility to increase  lithium supply. Geological skills and infrastructure of Aramco as well as mining capabilities of Maaden are both about to be utilized to release the Arabian Shields potential.

MoU for Deeper Collaboration in Lithium Exploration and Development

On 19th February, India and Argentina signed an agreement for deeper collaboration in exploration and resource development of critical minerals, especially lithium. This MoU paves the way for Indian companies participating in mining projects of Argentina. Thus, a new player was introduced to the famous Lithium Triangle.

Emerging Membrane Technologies for Lithium Extraction

The team of Professor Lienhard from MIT recently published an article to address possible constrains like impurity co-extraction, material instability, lack of scalability that lower the effectiveness of direct lithium extraction (DLE) membrane so that to realise sustainable lithium extraction from brines and leachates.
